VISUAL: Link. Unimpressive at first glance, Kaneki is of average height, thin, and narrow-shouldered. His hair is currently white, though being administered Rc suppressants will allow it to grow back as black. His eye color is typically a flat gray, though his left eye can “activate” with black sclera and bright red irises under certain conditions — to hide this, he typically wears a cloth eyepatch. He also typically wears long sleeves and gloves to hide the condition of his hands and arms.
AURAL: Natsuki Hanae. Soft, gentle, polite.
OLFACTORY: He keeps up with personal hygiene, so nothing too notable?
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Extremely capable. He can fight by transforming the kagune matrix of his arms into claws or blades, with his own kagune, or using any one-handed sword-like weapon. As a half-ghoul, Kaneki’s physical capacities outpace that of a standard human — ghouls are typically 3 to 5 times stronger than humans, and he displays feats that are even outside of that (such as uprooting a lamppost from asphalt and using it as a makeshift weapon). He has very sharp reflexes and is able to run at a consistent
~33mph. His pain tolerance is so high that his sense of pain is practically nonexistent. He also has a durability and regenerative ability that is considered even among ghouls to be “freakish;” he can regenerate severed limbs over days, severed digits over hours, and can mend flesh wounds almost instantaneously. He is a very daunting opponent in close combat because of the visceral brutality of ghoul abilities and also because he’s annoyingly difficult to kill.
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: His body is in kind of a weird, fucked-up state right now (see Medical Information below), so he tends to avoid physical contact unless necessary. Probably touch-starved as all hell, though.
RELATIONSHIPS/SEX: He’s a virgin, and the only girl he ever went on a date with tried to kill and eat him. I don’t know what else to say.
Jokes aside: neither have been on his radar for the last few years because survival has been paramount, but anything’s possible given proper development. He’s bi — his taste in women is entirely those that can gaslight gatekeep girlboss him, and as for anyone else... if you're nice enough to him for an extended period of time, he’ll crack like an egg.
MENTAL INFORMATION: It’s really just a mess in there.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Narrow-shouldered and thin enough to seem fragile to the unfamiliar eye, what some might interpret as gauntness belies a frame of tough muscle stretched taut over the armature of his skeleton. Kaneki harbors many medical differences from a typical human body. The most notable is the presence of several “kakuhou” inside his abdomen, mostly clustered around the spine at the small of his back. Most ghouls only harbor the one they are born with, but an extended period of ghoul cannibalization as well as other reckless behavior have caused additional organs to form to contain Kaneki’s high count of Rc cells. From these kakuhou he can extend what is called a “kagune” — the ghoul’s hunting organ, it is a flexible matrix of Rc cells with a consistency likened to “liquid steel.” Kaneki’s most often take the shape of razor-sharp insectoid legs, though he has a high level of control over the shape of his kagune. Kaneki’s arms and hands are currently formed out of a kagune-like material rather than flesh and blood. He exhibits a ghoul’s “kakugan” (eyes which activate with black sclera and a bright red iris when hungry, emotional, or using ghoul abilities) in his left eye only. As a ghoul, food that humans consume is unpalatable (to the point of smelling and tasting revolting) to Kaneki; he can force himself to eat it, but it will only cause him to become very ill. The only food that his body can metabolize properly is human or ghoul flesh. He needs to consume the rough equivalent of one adult human body’s worth of meat every one or two months to remain healthy.
